The first commercial title coming from Spain-based Loco Players is 124% funded on Kickstarter! Goner is a dinosaur-themed survival horror game coming to Steam in 2021. Yeray Schwarts, Loco Players’ CEO, stated:
Goner is a single-player story-driven game. It’s a first-person game that follows Anthony Sunder as he searches for his missing mother. She and her expedition vanished on an island inhabited by a hostile lost civilization and dangerous fauna. Some of the dinosaurs featured include the huge winged quetzalcoatlus, the crocodile-esque deinosuchus, and the edmontosaurus. Players will need to use dinosaur bones, skins, and other parts for food, weapons, armor, and tools.
Some of the features of Goner include having to manage various stats such as hunger, thirst, fatigue, temperature, and health. There is a limited inventory, meaning you’ll have to be careful what you hunt and collect. As many survival games have, there’s a day and night cycle, moon phases, and a weather system to keep things dynamic. You can camouflage your smell with mud or water to throw hunters off your track. There are also complex AI behaviors, the ability to build and set traps, and customizable armor and clothes.
Aside from the inhabitants and dinosaurs, players also need to worry about toxic gases, poisonous flora and fauna, lava, and quicksand. For those less interested in hardcore survival, Goner has a second mode if Survival mode isn’t your thing. Story mode focuses more on the narrative, having you find your mom and get out while learning more about the island, meeting NPCs, and completing side quests.
