Digital storefront is the latest gaming company to suffer layoffs.

Reps from the company offered some details on the situation in an interview with Kotaku. “We have been rearranging certain teams since October 2018, effecting in closing around a dozen of positions last week. At the same time, since the process started we have welcomed nearly twice as many new team members, and currently hold 20 open positions,” the representative said.

However, an unnamed employee affected by these layoffs had a different story. They told Kotaku that the company told them they were forced to let them go due to financial reasons.

February has been a rough month for the industry. First, Activision/Blizzard had laid off nearly 800 employees. Early last week, ArenaNet, the developers behind Guild Wars 2, would also experience massive layoffs, along with canceled unnamed projects.

And now, GOG’s confirmed announcement makes for a sour ending to an already bad month.
