Godzilla truly is king of the monsters, as the latest movie trailer shows. 2019’s Godzilla: King of the monsters, has just treated fans with a brand new trailer. And Kaiju believe it, it looks great.

King of the monsters is the direct sequel to the 2014 release simply titled Godzilla, which was a western version of the series that wasn’t terrible and didn’t feature a stupid looking Jurassic park inspired Godzilla. Here’s looking at you 1998.

While there have been a lot of Godzilla films there haven’t been many western versions. That’s all changing now. I won’t spoil the plot of the 2014 version, all you need to know is big monster smashes up the place. If you’ve never heard of Godzilla where have you been? That film saw the start of the “MonsterVerse”, a shared universe for monster films. King of the monsters will be the 3rd film in the MonsterVerse, following 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. King Kong and Godzilla will then face off in 2020 in the 4th film, Godzilla vs. Kong.

On to the trailer. Take a look for yourselves, but there’s a lot to take in. Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown starts the trailer by calling for help and looking suitably distressed. Things then kick up a notch. We get to see Godzilla and other titans, as the monsters are called, literally bursting from the ground. The trailer gives us glimpses of Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah, all ready to cause mischief.

A side note of the trailer see’s the government discussing the Titans. Questioning which ones might protect us, and which may destroy us. They even mention the idea of weaponizing Godzilla and keeping him as a sort of pet. These are all ideas that have appeared in other movies and unfortunately, the would likely be close to the truth. If giant monsters ever do sprout forth from the ground that is.

Overall Godzilla: King of the monsters looks great and, fingers crossed, it looks a lot of fun. I’m thankful we are finally getting some good western versions of these films. The monsters look modern whilst respecting what has come before.  Roll on May for some monster fun. Hail to the king baby.
