PlayStation Studios developer Santa Monica Studio has officially confirmed the release date for God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to 2018’s soft reboot of the iconic God of War series. The God of War: Ragnarok release date has officially been confirmed to be November 9th, 2022, affirming that the sequel will be coming later this year and has not been delayed, contrary to previous rumors. The release date was revealed and confirmed in a new cinematic trailer.

God of War: Ragnarok Release Date and New Trailer

Sony officially revealed a new trailer for God of War: Ragnarok, confirming a release date of November 9th, 2022. The cinematic trailer aims to also set the tone for Kratos and Atreus’ new adventure and will be coming to both PS4 and PS56 on launch day.

God of War: Ragnarok is set to be one of Sony’s biggest releases of the year, and the studio has revealed some new information along with the release date announcement. The new description for the story of God of War: Raganrok reads:

“Join Kratos and Atreus on a mythic journey for answers before the prophesied battle that will end the world. All the while, the eyes of Asgard watch their every move…”

Sony and Santa Monica Studio have also unveiled the standard, launch, and other editions for God of War: Ragnarok in a blog post. The standard edition will cost $59.99 on PS4 and $69.99 on PS5), and the “launch “edition will include Risen Snow armor and tunic cosmetics for Kratos and Atreus, respectively. There is also the ultra-deluxe spared-no-expense Jötnar Edition, which includes the game, a set of pins, Brok’s dice set, and a 16-inch Mjölnir replica, among other things.

The story of God of War Ragnarok is set three years after the events of 2018’s God of War and will see Kratos and his now-teenaged son Atreus challenge gods like Thor, the god of thunder, and Freya in search for Tyr, the Norse god of war.

The developers have discussed God of War: Ragnarok as the finale of the franchise’s Norse saga. While the game was originally scheduled to release in 2021 but was later delayed to 2022.
