Creating difficulty modes in a game can be challenging already for developers. All games are stuck between changing the mechanics to make the game more difficult or just giving the enemies more health. The latter can be a bit bad. For example, we have Nioh 2, which, while it doesn’t have difficulty modes right off the bat, the new game plus that you start changes things a bit. On the other hand, Gotham Knights just adds more health to enemies making combat tedious. However, God of War Ragnarok’s difficulty modes are set to continue and improve upon its predecessor.

One new mode is being added to the God of War Ragnarok difficulty options

In 2018’s God of War, we had four difficulty modes. We had “Give me Story” for those who only wanted to play and enjoy what the game had to tell. “Give me Balance” was some sort of Normal difficulty. “Give me a Challenge” worked as the hard version. And finally, “Give me God of War” was just the hardest of them all. This time, for God of War Ragnarok’s difficulty modes, we’ll get one between the easiest and normal modes. It’ll be called “Give me Grace.” This might work as a middle-ground between the two which is great for those who want to enjoy the story with just a tiny bit of challenging gameplay.

God of War Ragnarok Gets Launch Trailer Before Its Release

We already know that Santa Monica Studio is trying to make this one of the most accessible games ever created. Knowing that they are also adding some difficulty modes to make things easier for gamers is also great. We already know that the game has gone gold, and the review embargo lifts in a few days. Besides that, the game will last the same as the previous one, in terms of story, and might last up to 40-50 hours for a 100% completion rate. So, we’re now in the endgame. We are just waiting for what we think will be one of the biggest hit games of the year.
