Going into the game believing that you will be able to unlock Heavy Runic Attacks Early on will likely leave you disappointed since you won’t have access to it until you’ve made it a decent amount of the way through the story.
Typically, you can be awarded Heavy Runic Attacks by defeating story related high-level bosses you will encounter. Aside from that, you can find them in the wild, but they are rare. Though, if you are going to try to find them rather than collect them on your way through the story, there is a place to do that in Legendary Chests. Legendary Chests can be found all over the place in God of War: Ragnarok, but they are also pretty easy to miss. This is because they have such amazing and powerful rewards within them.
