The Game Awards event streamed earlier this month, and Elden Ring was the biggest winner. God of War Ragnarok was also one of the year’s best games, but the community chose Elden Ring. Sony might be disappointed by the result, but the PlayStation GOTY Awards show a difference because God of War Ragnarok became the winner for many categories. The vote happened on the official PlayStation site, and hundreds of thousands of gamers voted. This isn’t surprising because God of War Ragnarok is currently only available on PlayStation, and its community was mad about The Game Awards’ GOTY choice.

God of War Ragnarok wasn’t failed at The Game Awards; it won Best New Character with Thor while also taking the Silver position with Odin. These characters had a big role in the game, and we can say the game deserved them indisputably.

God of War Ragnarok Conquers The PS Awards

There was open voting for 16 categories, and God of War Ragnarok did 11/16. This shows God of War Ragnarok’s success but is also a bit overrating. This year’s other big games, like Modern Warfare 2, The Last of Us Part I, Stray, etc., didn’t get that many trophies. This year’s PS GOTY Awards was more of a God of War fanbase spam, but the game was good enough to get multiple awards. Here are which trophies the game won: “Best Story, Best Graphical Showcase, Best Art Direction, Best Audio Design, Soundtrack of the Year, Best Accessibility Features, Best Use of DualSense, Best PS4 Game of the Year, and Best PS5 Game of the Year.”

PlayStation’s award event isn’t big as the others. It has a less reputation, just like The Steam Awards. Many game sellers are doing this vote, but The Game Awards and the Golden Joystick Awards are way more credible events. Truth be told, that kind of award event actually doesn’t have a big meaning for most of us. You might love a game that got 1/100 on Metacritic, and that’s fine.
