Cory Barlog, Director of God of War 2018,  responded to the recent leaks of The Last of Us Part I remake with a funny and also slightly frustrated, “ugh…leaks.”

Even though Barlog doesn’t actually name The Last of Us, it is evident that is what he meant. The entire Twitter thread is full of people sharing their feelings on the leaked images of the beloved survival horror game.

The facepalm from Cory Barlog is completely warranted, as video game leaks at such a late phase of development are very hard on the dev teams, their hard work not getting the payoff it deserves is truly unfortunate.

The unknown leaker uploaded the images and other details about the game on July 17, the leak included pictures of gameplay, the overhauled visuals that were built from the ground up, the improved UI, and some other details about the game itself. The leaker said that there were no mechanical improvements to the game and that the only changes were merely superficial graphical improvements.

Fans Have A Lot To Say About The Leaks

None of the details mentioned by the leaker have been confirmed yet, and may or may not be correct. The news has disappointed some fans already, as the remake seems to lack the fan-favorite Factions mode, leading some fans to suggest this remake is no more than just a cash grab.

The Last of Us Part I and Part II are undoubtedly some of the best video games ever made. Even so, the two-part series already getting a remake does seem a bit unnecessary to many fans, especially when the game costs $70.

Soon after the leaks, Sony officially released a video detailing everything that had changed from the first game to the remake. It shows the new visuals, AI improvements, DualSense haptics, and most importantly, some of the best accessibility features found in any video game ever. This shows why this game was so expensive to make.
