NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella said on Twitter he’s confident that God of War will be the biggest exclusive debut in terms of sales on PlayStation 4, something which has never been a given when it came to previous entries in the franchise.

“So, my confidence is high that God of War will be the biggest exclusive debut on the PS4,” Piscatella told his followers, further adding that the amount of positive reviews is something disruptive in terms of how many copies you’d expect a single-player title to sell.

“Only question I have left is how high is the sky for a primarily story driven, non service game. Haven’t seen a game like this rated this highly in years, so this will set the benchmark.”

Interestingly, the game has indeed hugely amazing reviews as it has achieved a Metascore of 95/100 on Metacritic, beating a behemoth such as The Last of Us Remastered (94/100). When it comes to multiplatform, it is second only to GTA V.

This generation, the games with the biggest launch sales were Destiny, and The Division, two titles totally different from the just-released PS4 exclusive from Santa Monica Studio, so we get the surprise here.

God of War is now available for PS4.
