While we’re waiting for the eventual release of God Eater 3, fans of the series in Japan just got the next best thing: God Eater: Resonant Ops.

Published by Bandai Namco, God Eater: Resonant Ops is now available on iOS and Android, serving as the direct sequel to 2013’s God Eater 2: Rage Burst; meaning that many of the characters who you’ve become accustomed to during the course of the game (assuming you’ve played it) will be present in this one. That said, though this game does serve as a bridge connecting Rage Burst and 3, you won’t have to play it to understand the happenings in the upcoming sequel.

As for the game itself, it’s branded as being a full-fledged RPG. The game does include item-based microtransactions, but it’s free to play overall.

If interested, then you can find it here on iTunes, and here on Google Play. Of course, since this is Japan exclusive, you’ll need a workaround (a rather easy one) if you live in any other region. Those with Apple devices will require a Japanese iTunes account, while the rest on Android can make use of the ever-popular application Qooapp.

Hopefully, God Eater: Resonant Ops helps to tide fans over until the next main entry in the series arrives. Let’s just hope we don’t have to suffer through a three year gap between the JP and Western release like last time though.
