Thief is an infamous series among fans of older games. It features some well-refined stealth gameplay along with graphics that innovate on those of its time. It hasn’t had an entry into the series since 2014 though, leaving many fans hungering for a new title. While that new title has yet to be revealed, New Blood Interactive looks to give fans something to hold them over. At the PC Gaming Show this weekend, the team showcased their upcoming game Gloomwood. It takes inspiration from the series but adds a unique twist to it. To go with the showcase, the team featured a new trailer and announced that a new demo is available on Steam.

Gloomwood is a stealth FPS that follows an unknown character, abducted, and put into this harsh city. It’s filled with monstrous creations, all that want nothing but your demise. Not all hope is lost though, as you have a few tools at your disposal. Using the resources and weapons you have on you, you’ll traverse through the city. Will you solve how you got there and make your escape, or will you fall like the rest of this lost metropolis. The game is releasing exclusively to PC through Steam.

As mentioned before, Gloomwood takes a lot from the Thief series. It uses some of the graphics you’d expect from the older Thief games, along with its stealth mechanics. Its uniqueness is through the introduction of guns. This adds a whole new dynamic, allowing for range at the cost of your element of surprise. You’ll have to make effective use of these guns, as one wrong shot could doom you. It’ll be interesting to see how players make use of the new tool and enjoy the nostalgia when Gloomwood releases soon.
