Gina Carano, known for her role in Star Wars: The Mandalorian as Cara Dune, is now fired from the popular Disney+ series. This news was confirmed by a Lucasfilm representative statement announcing that she will no longer return to the series and other future projects in the franchise. Lucasfilm‘s drastic move is not shocking as the human female Alderaanian shared several controversial posts and anti-Semantic posts on her Instagram story. The post included how she compared people’s hatred of different political views and parties to Nazi Germany’s hatred of Jews.
The post received major backlash that led to the hashtag #FireGinaCarano that trended on Twitter on Wednesday. The actress then removed the post and posted series of stories that included one that says, “Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief or view you hold is ****ing wild.”
This is not the first time Gina Carano received such backlash as she also previously listed her pronouns as “boop/bop/beep.” A movement that the trans community regarded as a mockery. Which she then later apologized for.
With her history of controversial posts, it seems that Lucasfilm had enough and is cutting ties to the actress.
It is also worth noting that the production film titan aimed to have Gina Carano star in her own Star Wars spin-off in December 2020. But Carano now has to say bye together with her career in the Star Wars world.
