What exactly will he be working on?
Today, Guerrilla Games added Giles Armstrong to their writing staff. Armstrong has been in the games development business for quite awhile now, taking on several different roles during his time. He’s served as a QA tester, a Narrative Designer, and a Senior Game Designer on various projects. Armstrong is best known as a writer though, and he’s lent his pen to many an independent game. Most know him for his work with Eidos Montreal on titles such as Thief and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Now that he’s joined the ranks of Guerrilla Games, it’s likely that gamers will soon know him for his contributions to Guerrilla Games’ next big project.
Guerrilla Games has yet to announce their next project of course, but current speculation among gamers holds that it’s going to be the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. The game launched to rousing success shortly after it launched in February 2017, surprising just about everyone (including Guerrilla Games). So, it wouldn’t be too unreasonable to surmise that they’re already working on its sequel, especially since Guerrilla Games appears to be very open to the idea of continuing Aloy’s story. Following up a massively successful game is always tough, perhaps that’s one of the reasons why Guerrilla Games decided to hire Armstrong. Game development being what it is though, it’s just as likely that the developer has something else up their sleeve besides Horizon Zero Dawn 2. Either way, adding Armstrong to their writing team seems like a smart move on their part.
Incredibly proud to announce: I’m the new Senior Writer at @Guerrilla.
A huge thanks to everyone who’s supported me with the move. This is something I’ve been working towards for some time, and I couldn’t be happier to join the studio’s writing team. 😁 pic.twitter.com/lU2BNSgXck
