AMC Network loves the actor Giancarlo Esposito. After his appearances in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul as Gus Fring, he is returning to the network once again. But this time as the hero. According to a new report from Deadline, Giancarlo Esposito is set to lead a remake of the British drama series The Driver for AMC.
AMC’s version of The Driver is a series coming from the creators Danny Brocklehurst and Sunu Gonera, as well as the showrunner, Theo Travers. It will be an American remake of a BBC One three-part miniseries. The British series starred David Morrissey — known for his role as Philip Blake on AMC’s The Walking Dead.
The American remake will be a six-part series. It is set to launch next year on both AMC and AMC+. It is currently being produced by AMC Studios and A+E Studios, and Thruline Entertainment.
AMC’s The Driver will star Giancarlo Esposito as a taxi driver, but suddenly, his life is turned upside down after he agrees to chauffer a New Orleans-based Zimbabwean gangster. This gangster is notorious for exploiting immigrants in southern U.S. ports. The British version of The Driver followed a similar story. In it, David Morrissey plays a cab driver, and his life is similarly turned upside down after agreeing to be a driver for a gang.
