A new standalone version of Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer component, Legends, will launch on September 3, developer Sucker Punch Productions announced today. Unshackled from the single-player experience, Legends will be available to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players for $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99. Bar a handful of cosmetics only un-lockable through completion of the single-player campaign, Legends standalone has all of the same content as that accessible to current owners of Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Updates

Along with the standalone news, Sucker Punch unveiled a brand new mode called Rivals coming to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. Rivals is a 2v2 mode that tasks players with clearing out successive waves of enemies. Each downed enemy grants Magatama; a damage-inflicting currency used to hamper the progress of the opposing duo. Sucker Punch explains that players can, for example, use Magatama to emit Shades to block opponent purchases or Curses ranging from health drains to exploding bodies. A new gear mastery system is on the way to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, too. Over to Sucker Punch for the lowdown:

Lastly, a further update, penciled in for release alongside Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on August 20, adds a bevy of new features to Legends, notably some balance changes to shorten Survival mode sessions, new weekly Survival Nightmare challenge variants, and fresh cosmetics.

Finally, to wrap up today’s stacked news drop, Sucker Punch plans to push out weekly updates to Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer Legends from September 10 to October 1. More specifically, these include new maps, leader boards, and a new difficulty level for Raid.

Ghost of Tsushima is out now for PlayStation consoles.
