Sucker punch is a studio known for classic PlayStation exclusives such as The Sly Collection and The Infamous Franchise. That’s why when a new story trailer for Ghost Of Tsushima dropped yesterday, it made waves. Ever since its trailer at E3 2018 and subsequent delay in October, we here at The Nerd Stash have been excited about it.

What is Ghost Of Tsushima?

Set in 1274, You play the role of a samurai fighting back against the Mongol empire. As one of the last samurai, you are tasked with using less honorable tactics to win. Previous gameplay videos suggest its combat is brutal, dark and visceral. In this gameplay the very first combat encounter ends one enemy in a single swipe, the ghost’s sword going straight through him. He falls and the rest of the fight proceeds onwards. this is in stark contrast to previous titles from sucker punch such as sly cooper and infamous. they have more of a focus on prolonged fights through combos, lots of enemies or a mixture of the two. No doubt this a fascinating turn for Sucker Punch. The trailers also show an organic pretty world in a decaying grey kind of way. It features hundreds of blades of grass and leaves flowing in the wind, the samurai’s body moving with it. Truly an excellent trailer. This moves us onto the story trailer for Ghost of Tsushima

The Story Trailer for Ghost:

“When we fight, we face our enemy head-on and when we take their life, we look them ion the eye with courage and respect. this is what makes us samurai” This quote is in stark contrast to the moves Kin Sakai must make in order to fight off the Mongol army, a great trailer opener. It elaborates visually juxtaposing his childhood being trained with his adulthood fighting. “You are more than a samurai. He is a vengeful spirit back from the grave to slaughter the Mongols” Finally, after all this exposition, it gives us what we are looking for. In bright red and white displays “June 25 2020”
