Dormant Fungal Nucleus is a Common Ascension Material in Genshin Impact used for enhancing Bows, namely the 5-Star Hunter’s Path and the two 4-Star Weapons, End of the Line and King’s Squire. While not explicitly stated, the Hunter’s Path is considered to be Tighnari’s signature weapon. So naturally, those who’ve pulled the new 5-Star Dendro unit and bow must acquire Dormant Fungal Nuclei for the weapon’s Ascension. However, since the region of Sumeru is still relatively new to Travelers, knowing where to find and farm Dormant Fungal Nuclei in Genshin Impact can be challenging. Luckily, it is a resource that is pretty common throughout the forested locale.

Farming Dormant Fungal Nucleus in Genshin Impact

To farm Dormant Fungal Nuclei in Genshin Impact, Travelers must hunt Level 40+ Fungi, the enemy mobs exclusive to the Sumeru region. These small cuddly creatures might appear plushy and lovable, but they can be a handle to fight, especially in groups. Once players kill these mobs at Level 40+, there’s a good chance they’ll drop a Dormant Fungal Nucleus.

Genshin Impact: How to Get Midlander Billets

There are currently eight known Fungi mob types that drop Dormant Fungal Nuclei in Genshin Impact:

  • Floating Dendro Fungus
  • Floating Hydro Fungus
  • Grounded Hydroshroom
  • Stretchy Anemo Fungus
  • Stretchy Pyro Fungus
  • Whirling Cryo Fungus
  • Whirling Electro Fungus
  • Winged Cryoshroom

It is possible that fans who defeat these mobs will receive an Inactivated Fungal Nucleus instead of a Dormant Fungal Nucleus. The Inactivated variant is the lower-rarity material of the Dormant version and can be taken to any Alchemist’s Crafting Bench to be converted into its refined form. Specifically, crafting one Dormant Fungal Nucleus costs Inactivated Fungal Nuclei ×3 and Mora ×50.

Alternatively, players can purchase a limited monthly supply of Dormant Fungal Nuclei directly from Paimon’s Bargains using Masterless Stardust, a currency only acquired from receiving Wishes. One Dormant Fungal Nucleus costs Masterless Stardust ×15, which is a small price for paying players, but free-to-play fans are better off spending their Masterless Stardust on something else.

As mentioned above, Dormant Fungal Nuclei are dropped by Fungi, mobs that can be found all across Sumeru. Marking every single Fungi spawn point on the map would be somewhat impractical, but committing to a specific farming route is highly encouraged for players to do. Thanks to YouTuber KingSef Games, players can know of all the best locations to hunt Fungi and farm their Dormant Fungal Nuclei in Genshin Impact.
