According to rumors, Genshin Impact version 2.6 will be adding new characters named Kamisato Ayato and Shikanoin Heizou to the game’s roster. Who are they, and when exactly will they be released?

A well-known Genshin Impact leaker Ubatcha1 tweeted that the 2.6 update might introduce two new characters in the same Wish banner: Kamisato Ayato as a 5-star character and Heizou as a 4-star character. Other rumors swirling about on the internet also seem to suggest that Ayato will be a Hydro Sword user, giving him a great synergy with his sister Ayaka and making him the second Hydro Sword user after Xingqiu. Genshin Impact version 2.6 could be released around March 30, 2022, if we based it on miHoYo’s usual update schedule.
Who is Kamisato Ayato and Shikanoin Heizou?

Kamisato Ayato is the elder brother of Ayaka. While it was believed that Ayaka is the Kamisato Clan’s leader, turns out new story quests have revealed that it is actually Ayato who was the one pulling the strings in the background and takes on leadership roles. Ayaka herself serves as the face of the Kamisato Clan. He had also become acquainted with Thoma before his parents’ deaths. After their parents died, Ayato let Thoma cut relations with the Yashiro Commission, but he insisted on keeping assisting him as a housekeeper and a “fixer”, to Ayato’s delight.
Although no one has seen how Ayato looks [Update: miHoYo has revealed Kamisato Ayato’s appearance, seen above], apparently he was already teased in Arataki Itto‘s character trailer. In the last thirty seconds of the trailer, Thome called for “his lord” and an unseen voice mentioned how Tenryou Commission will disperse the commotion. This is how miHoYo normally informs players that a new character will be playable in the near future, so it’s to be expected that fans are now asking questions about him.
On the other hand, there is even less information regarding Heizou. Shikanoin Heizou is mentioned to be a rebellious Inazuman detective who works for the Tenryou Commission by his elder cousin Kano Nana. In one of the Bantan Sango Detective Agency’s in-game ads, Sango referred to Heizou as “a liar and a charlatan” and insists that they “aren’t even in the same line of work.” Nonetheless, despite showing some level of disdain towards his attitude, Heizou’s superior, Kujou Sara, admits that he always does bring back satisfactory results from his investigations.
