Genshin Impact, while not an MMO in its heart, certainly is trying things that have become staples in that genre. The latest update to hit the action-adventure gacha game is something that players love in their favorite MMOs – player housing is coming to the mega-sucessful Genshin Impact. Coming in version 1.5’s update, and announced in a trailer, instead of your traditional mechanic of buying a plot of land and building/customizing that area, players will be able to obtain an item called a “Serenitea Pot” – AKA a gateway to a pocket dimension that you’ll be able to decorate to your heart’s content. There’s not an exact method on how to obtain this item but we’ll almost definitely have a guide up as soon as the update drops on April 28.

Also included in this Genshin Impact update are new characters, boss fights, and story content as expected in every update, but the addition of the new housing system is certainly a reason to get excited. Not content with stopping at customizing a single house, Genshin Impact goes a step further and gives you a big space of land for you to fill with a village’s worth of buildings and characters. With the way the game treats its characters, you can only have four at a time in your party, but excess characters will be able to be found wandering around your personal space.

The team over at miHoYo, the Chinese dev that is also known for their mobile game Honkai Impact 3rd, will bring this new update, titled Beneath the Light of Jadeite, to PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and PC on April 28. There is a Nintendo Switch and PS5 version in the works too, although that is further off in the future.
