A recent leak relating to Genshin Impact suggests that HoYoverse might add a card game mode once the 3.0 update is out. Mero, a prominent Genshin Impact leaker, said that the RPG would be getting a new trading card game as a separate mode in version 3.1.

Genshin Impact Card Game

The leaker also suggested that the card game will support PvE and maybe even PvP gameplay sometime in the future. This would be a first for Genshin Impact and a great addition to the endgame content. This is because once the game ends, there isn’t really much to do other than start all over again.

Mero went on to add that the trading card game in Genhin Impact will allow a new source of Battle Pass experience which may let players get to level 50 quicker. Once the mode is added to version 3.1 of Genshin Impact, card games against NPCs every week could be a good source for EXP, challenges, and rewards.

HoYoverse’s decision to lessen upcoming versions by one week each also matches this new source of Battle Pass EXP. This will effectively give players less time to complete the pass and get new characters on upcoming banners. The new card game could fill the gap especially since it is expected to be a permanent addition.

Fan Reactions

No further information was provided about the trading card mode, but Genshin Impact fans on Reddit have already started memeing it to no end with Yu-Gi-Oh! references.

The Genshin Impact card game could quite possibly be what Gwent was to the Witcher series. The card game blew up in popularity and warranted its own stand-alone release, which remains successful to this day.
