Genshin Impact, the open-world action RPG from miHoYo, has a boatload of collectibles for you to find in the land of Teyvat, from chests, Anemocolus, to Statues of the Seven, but on your travels, when you’re taking a break from slaying monsters, you might find some other things to unlock. In particular, Shrines, Shinres of Depths to be exact, yet these are locked behind barriers; how exactly do you open them?
If you interact with one of these Shrines, it’ll tell you that you need a Shrine of the Depths key to unlock them, and if you manage to find a key, an assortment of luxury goodies are found inside!
How to open a Shrine of Depths
To acquire a Shrine of the Depths key, one must finish the story’s quests, mainly the Archon Questline, or by completing Abyssal Domains. You can also find the keys by doing specific NPC quests, world quests, and daily commissions quests that unlock when you hit Adventure Rank 12.
Dotted around the world are Abyssal Domains; these are dungeons, and completing them can give you a chance of getting a key as a reward. However, many of the dungeons have a rotating set of rewards that change daily at 4AM, so at this moment, it’s more of being lucky than anything else.
As there are two regions in the game, Mondstadt and Liyue use different keys, so a key for the Mondstadt region will not work for a shrine in Liyue. However, once all your hard work is rewarded by obtaining one of the keys, the loot that awaits you is a collection of Primogems, Sigils, Adventure Rank, weapons, and artifacts.
