Patch 1.5 has introduced a hoard of new features to Genshin Impact. Apart from two new characters that have been added, players can now also own their own personal house in the game. On top of all the new additions, the first-ever PVP event called Windtrace has made its way to Genshin Impact. Players will compete against others in essentially a hide-and-seek mode with rewards such as Primogems on the line.

How to Play the Windtrace Event

To take part in the Windtrace event, players need to be at least at Adventure Rank 20 or above. Players also need to unlock the Statue of Seven in Springvale, Dawn Winery, Qingce Village, Wuwang Hill, and Starglow Cavern beforehand as the matches will take place there. Once done, interact with Gygax near Mondstadt’s plaza for a quick rundown of the entire event, after which you can proceed with the event.

As mentioned before, the Windtrace event is very similar to a hide-and-seek game. Players are divided into Hunters and Rebels, where Hunters need to seek Rebels in a given time limit to win, and Rebels have to stop Hunters from doing so.

Hunters can detect the traces of Rebels using Elemental Sight, while Rebels can hide by blending into surroundings using things such as barrels and crates. The Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst of players taking part in the event will change into Mysterious Hunch, Capture!, and Insight during the event.

Even though it is a co-op event, players cannot team up with in-game friends. The matchmaking in the event only allows solo players, so both Hunters and Rebels teams will completely be random. At the end of each match, you will be rewarded with Windtrace Coins, depending upon the result. You can use Windtrace Coins in the event shop for redeeming rewards.
