As announced by the official gen:LOCK Twitter account, season 2 of the series will premiere on HBO Max. Season 2 is set to premiere on the service on Thursday, November 4. However, gen:LOCK season 2 is expected to make its way to Rooster Teeth FIRST 90 days after its HBO Max date.

gen:LOCK had first been confirmed for a second season in October 2019. Multiple updates on the season followed though a definite premiere date was still unknown at the time.

gen:LOCK is set in the dystopian future. The series stars Michael B Jordan as Julius Chase, Maisie Williams as Cammie MacClous, and more. The series first premiered on Rooster Teeth FIRST in January 2019. It ran for a total of 8 episodes before concluding in March of 2019. The series had also aired on Toonami between August and September of the same year.

At the same time, the gen:LOCK digital comic book series set between the events of seasons 1 and 2 was published by DC Comics in 2019. The illustrated series ran for a total of 14 digital chapters, which are supposed to be published into seven physical issues in the future.

Despite the future plans for the comic series, it was cut short due to complications from the COVID-19 pandemic. Only a small number of #6’s were physically published, with #7 not being published at all. However, the series was still published in its entirety in August 2020. A spin-off series titled Storm Warning (focusing. on the character of Cammie) soon followed in October 2020.
