Those who watched any dramatic movie in the early 2000’s are probably familiar with Gary Jules’ ‘Mad World’. The song became extremely popular around this time thanks to movies like Donnie Darko, and surprisingly the original Gears of War trailer.

The song, which is a cover of a 1982 version by Tears for Fears, is a haunting and touching one that struck a cord with the overall theme of the first Gears of War game. Showing the desolated hellscape that was formerly a beautiful civilization, the original trailer really struck a cord at times.

The original trailer became a classic, playing on TV and over the internet for weeks leading up to the game’s launch. This time around everything isn’t quite the same, having been reworked and remade using the newer, and more powerful graphics engine.

Better textures, lighting, and overall graphical performance really amp up the visuals for both the game and the trailer. Also the presentation has been changed to be more in line with the actual events of the game, showcasing some key moments from Gears of War. The original trailer was more of a mock up scenario, giving you the idea of the game’s plot rather than actual points from it.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition hits Xbox One on August 25th with a PC version coming later on.
