Gears of War 4 was first officially unveiled during E3 2015, where we even got our first footage of the game’s campaign in action. At that time, it was said that the game would be arriving in Holiday 2016, but now that date has been pushed up by just a little.
A special livestream was held this weekend at the Gears of War Pro League Championships. This stream included a panel with Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition’s studio head Rod Fergusson and Lead Multiplayer Designer Ryan Cleven.
We knew that some information could come out of this stream, and while there was no new trailer or too many details, we learned something new about the game’s release date.
Originally slated for Holiday 2016, they now specify that Gears of War 4 will be hitting in Fall 2016. These are usually used differently, with Holiday typically meaning only November and December. Fall is anytime really from September onward to November, though typically Fall in game releases means September or October.
Could we get a pushed up release to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the series this September? That would be a very fitting spot to release Gears of War 4, but we’ll have to wait and see if it will be ready that soon, with a release date likely being revealed at E3.
