There have been many game trailers featured at Gamescom that most people expected, such as Hogwarts Legacy and Dead Island 2, but Killer Klowns From Outer Space reveal definitely wasn’t one of them.

Developed by Teravision Games and published by Good Shepard Entertainment, the trailer of Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game reveals how the game attempts to recapture the zany, irreverent humor of the original 1988 film and transplant it into an asymmetrical multiplayer setting.

Knowing when to put a Klown in its place

Created by the executive director of Friday The 13th: The Game, Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game pits 7 humans against 3 klowns. Extensive emphasis is placed on the idea that no two matches should play out exactly the same.

According to the official product description provided on Steam: “Crescent Cove is a sprawling arena for unique 3v7 fights between Klowns and humans – boasting various locations, [a] randomly generated map layout, and a multitude of tactical opportunities for both teams.” The developers make it clear that cooperation between players will go a long way toward that team achieving its stated goal:  “In the battle between Killer Klowns and citizens of Crescent Cove, team up and use your wits to harvest humans or save them from the alien invasion!”

They wanna play games? They’re messing with the wrong guy…

Also worth noting are other promised features, including extensive customization options, a PvPvE gameplay focus, a carefully-designed respawn system, and a small slew of available match objectives, all aimed to incentivize a “play your own way” attitude.

Also mentioned were plans for post-launch updates, bringing more maps, characters, and other content.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game is currently slated for an early 2023 release window and will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
