Whenever tragedy strikes, Games Done Quick is always one of the first organizations to jump in with assistance, and these trying times are no different. Earlier this week, GDQ announced that Summer Games Done Quick is being delayed, but another marathon has been scheduled in the meantime: Corona Relief Done Quick.

Starting the weekend of April 17th, Corona Relief Done Quick, an online-only marathon, will take place to raise funds for coronavirus research and relief. 100% of the proceeds will go to Direct Relief, “a humanitarian aid organization with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies”. A schedule for the marathon will not be available until Monday, April 13th.

In a press release, GDQ promised they are keeping a close eye on COVID-19 precautions from the “WHO, CDC, local governments and public health agencies”. They have promised to update their Twitter in case future changes must occur.

Along with the news of the coronavirus relief marathon, Games Done Quick announced that their summer games are being put on hold. Summer Games Done Quick was supposed to take place in Bloomington, Montana during June 2020, but it has been postponed until the middle of August. Because of this delay, submissions will reopen at the end of April for new potential speedruns.

Corona Relief Done Quick will start Friday, April 17th and run through Thursday, April 23rd. Summer Games Done Quick has been postponed until Sunday, August 16th and will run through Sunday, August 23rd. Both events will be streamed on Games Done Quicks’ s Twitch channel.
