Update: MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries wasn’t announced, but has just shown up on Game Pass for PC.
Original Post: Hello, and welcome to our newest edition to our Game Pass coverage. Twice a month, we come here and cover all the games you can expect to see for that half of the month. In the last edition, we got games like Gears Tactics, Deliver Us The Moon, and more! I played through Deliver Us The Moon, and it was surprisingly good quality. If there’s anything you got your hands on, be sure to let us know! Without further adieu, though, here’s everything coming in the first half of the month for Game Pass subscribers.
For our only cross-platform title joining Game Pass, we have Final Fantasy IX from Square Enix. Zidane and Tantalus Theater Troupe plan to kidnap Princess Garnet. Soon enough, though, they’ll learn they weren’t the only ones with plans to break out of the castle. Follow the whole crew and a few others on a Final Fantasy adventure for the ages! For all those RPG fans out there, this is a title you won’t want to miss. You can expect to see Final Fantasy IX join Game Pass on May 14th.
For our first of two PC exclusive games, we have Halo 2 Anniversary. Halo 2 Anniversary is the next installment in a massive project to port the Master Chief Collection to PC. Follow the Master Chief as he returns to the Earth to defend it. The Covenant isn’t happy about the destruction of the Halo ring, and it’s up to you and the UNSC to put an end to them. Meanwhile, one race of the Covenant is about to find out a terrible secret about their Great Journey. This will be releasing to Game Pass with its launch on May 12th, so be ready to hop in and start shooting.
And secondly, Endless Legend, a 4X turn-based game from Amplitude Studios. Choose to lead one of eight civilizations, each having a unique feel to them in gameplay and story. You’ll have to manage things from your supplies, military strength, and control over the different regions. It’s a different take on the Civilization formula, and players have it loved so far. The game has received 90%s across the board, praised for its breath of fresh air in an otherwise static genre. Expect to see this game on Game Pass very soon.
Before we move to the console exclusives, I’d like to touch on the two games that came out in between posts. Both these titles came to both platforms, so be sure to hop on and try them. First was Moving Out, which is a couch co-op moving game where you move little houses filled with furniture. It’s a great game to play with your family in a time where you’re all stuck at home anyways. The other game is Streets of Rage 4, which is a beat ’em up title from Dotemu. It embraces a lot of the classic feel from arcade fighting games and is one worth coming to for the nostalgia. We even reviewed it earlier this month and found it a joy to play.
Now, onto what our console fans get this edition. We start with DayZ, an open-world survival game from Bohemia Interactive. During a period following the Soviet Union, the town of Chernarus has been struck by a virus of unknown origin. Most of the city has been turned into strange infected creatures, while the rest are left to vow for survival. As an immune survivor of the virus, it’s up to you to gather supplies and handle the other survivors before you become their next loot pile. Get ready to begin surviving soon, as DayZ joins Game Pass starting tomorrow.
Next up is a big one, being Red Dead Redemption II from Rockstar Games. Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang are on the run from authorities. The gang has to keep moving and stick together if they are to avoid police and bounty hunters. Along the way, they’ll rob and steal, along with gathering whatever they can. With lines being drawn deep in the gang, Arthur will be left to make one of the most critical choices of his life. Red Dead Redemption II shoots its way onto Game Pass starting tomorrow.
And for our final game of this edition, we have Fractured Minds from Wired Productions. Fractured Minds brings you into the mind of a person affected by anxiety and other mental health issues. In this short but beautiful game, you’ll explore the human psyche and learn a lot more about people affected by these issues. It might not seem very fun, but it’s a fantastic learning experience and is one you won’t soon forget. Game Pass owners can dive into the human mind beginning May 19th.
