Kate Welch, the former Senior User Experience Designer at Dungeons and Dragons, announced she is no longer with the company. She made the announcement on her Twitter account but didn’t reveal any specific reason.

today was my last day at Wizards of the Coast. I was lucky enough to work there for the better part of three years, working with some of the smartest and coolest folks in the biz.

not yet sure what comes next, but I’m excited for the future. all your good vibes are welcome. ?

Welch was first hired on at Wizards of the Coast in 2018 as a Game Designer for Dungeons and Dragons. She was responsible for writing content and creating stories for some of the most recent releases from Dungeons and Dragons. Titles included writer and story creator for Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus, which she revealed during the 2019 Dungeons and Dragons stream Descent. She also has a writing credits for Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage and Acquisitions Incorporated. She was a developer for Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount, and game designer for Dragon of Icepire Peak and Eberron: Rising from the Last War.

During her career with Dungeons and Dragons she co-hosted the Spoilers and Swag Twitch streamed show with Nathan Stewart. The two often shared spoilers for upcoming books and content as well as revealed art and lore about the many worlds featured in lore.

Welch also appeared as a dungeon master for many of Dungeons and Dragons’s live-streamed shows. Most recently she DMed for the cast of Game of Thrones as a part of Red Nose Day 2020 and D&D Live 2020. When she wasn’t behind the dungeon master screen she would play her character Rosie Beestinger, a wise halfling monk who was often referred to as Grandmother Night.

Before her time with Dungeons and Dragons, she worked at ArenaNet as a UI/UX Designer where she developed content for Guild Wars 2.
