The concept of immortality is an interesting one to consider. Is it worth living forever if you had to watch the world pass you by? Well, in Japan, a certain anime by the name of The Vampire Dies in No Time chooses to forget all that serious discussion and introduces you to Draluc, a vampire with the curse of immortality. Funimation – the Sony-owned group that recently acquired Crunchyroll – will be streaming this new anime for Western audiences later this year.
In The Vampire Dies in No Time, Draluc seems to be enjoying his life at the moment, except for the small fact that he is killed by even the slightest thing. The Vampire Dies In No Time is an upcoming show that is based on a comedy manga about the day-to-day escapades of Draluc and vampire hunter Ronaldo (unfortunately not resembling any past or present professional football/soccer players) as they form a reluctant alliance to fend off rogue vampires and Ronaldo’s murderous editor.
The manga version of The Vampire Dies in No Time originally started publication in June 2015, and currently holds no rating on popular anime and manga aggregator site MyAnimeList, which maybe makes sense given its obscurity among anime and manga fanatics (I’m trying not to refer to them as weebs, given that would be painting myself with that same brush). The decision for Funimation to take that source material and make it available for streaming for Western audiences when it premieres as part of the Fall 2021 anime season is perhaps strange given that lack of awareness of the original manga, but maybe this will create a new audience for The Vampire Dies in No Time.
