Prepare to face the frozen death, but this time on your table. Strategy survival simulator Frostpunk is getting a tabletop board game version of the game.

Originally released in 2018, Frostpunk was a critical hit in the strategy genre. Taking place on an Earth that is dying of a worldwide winter, you must keep a city, the citizens, and a massive fire core alive.

The board game version of Frostpunk will bring in the core loop of the video game through making tough choices, managing resources, and dealing with the never-ending snow.

Frostpunk: The Board Game will have up to four players lead a small group of survivors. Each of the survivors will have demands, and it is up to you to manage them and keep them alive.

While the creators of the board game stipulate that it will be as difficult as the video game, it will however be easy to learn for newcomers.

The board game is a collaboration between 11 bit studios, who developed the game, and Glass Cannon Unplugged. Glass Cannon Unplugged is a new tabletop game studio made up of experienced tabletop game creators.

Some of the people working on Frostpunk: The Board Game include Jakub Wiśniewski, who was the creator of the This War of Mine board game, and Michał Ozon, who was the former COO of board game publisher Phalanx.

For fans waiting to get in on the action, they will have to wait a bit longer. Frostpunk: The Board Game is going to get a Kickstarter campaign, to begin this fall.

Kickstarters for board games have become very popular over the years, and the team behind this board game has some experience.  For example, This War of Mine: The Board Game raised over $700,000 from over 9,000 backers.
