During a recent interview with Geoff Keighley, From Software’s Yasuhiro Kitao has revealed what led the Japanese studio to make such an unexpected partnership with the publisher Activision for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Kitao explained that From Software was surprised as many of the studio’s fans were to learn that Activision wanted to be a partner for this new IP, as he didn’t think such a big publisher could’ve wanted to work with them.
Interestingly, he also added that the studio took it as a learning experience, as this partnership comes after years of working together with Japanese publishers such as Bandai Namco (Dark Souls) and Sony (Bloodborne).
Kitao also commented that Hidetaka Miyazaki, game director for Sekiro, thought that the Shadows Die Twice teaser trailer for The Game Awards – the one that showed the protagonist’s mechanical arm – was too little to have a proper reveal in that occasion.
Anyway, it looks like the target was reached – to have fans of the From Software brand discuss for months and months about what the game could possibly be. Are you satisfied with this reveal? Let us know in the comments below.
