Director and producer Francis Lawrence along with the New Republic Pictures team will adapt the Philip K. Dick novel Vulcan’s Hammer into a movie. The book explores the governing of society by artificial intelligence. Philip K. Dick is known for his works: Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, The Adjustment Bureau, and The Man in the High Castle. As such, director and producer Francis Lawrence is no stranger to adapting science fiction books. He will be co-producing and directing the highly anticipated adaptation of the novel Vulcan’s Hammer.

“We’re very pleased to partner with the passionate team at New Republic and thrilled by Francis’s ambitious vision for bringing ‘Vulcan’s Hammer’ to the big screen,” Isa Dick Hackett said in his announcement regarding the team-up. Lawrence’s production company about: blank and New Republic acquired rights to Philip K. Dick’s novel Vulcan’s Hammer from the Dick Estate, through their first-look deal.

He adapted box-office hits Constantine and I Am Legend. Francis Lawrence was praised for the directing work he did for many of “The Hunger Games” movies. The adaptation of the novel Vulcan’s Hammer is just the latest of Francis Lawrence’s intriguing pursuits. In other words, Francis Lawrence is no stranger to adapting science fiction or post-apocalyptic genres. Lawrence’s films have generated over $2.2 billion worldwide.
