A few days ago during September Nintendo Direct, Capcom finally revealed the title of the G or Master Rank version of Monster Hunter Rise, Sunbreak. And since the Tokyo Game Show 2021 will be starting in just a couple of days, the company is obviously going to reveal a lot of new information at the event. From speculations of new monsters showcase to PC port talks, here are the four most important things Capcom will probably show off at its September 30 Monster Hunter TGS 2021 live stream.

1. New Elder Dragon and a Returning Monster

Since the flagship monster is already revealed in the teaser trailer — unlike Iceborne‘s vague teaser — I’m pretty sure Capcom will reveal most of the juicy bits regarding this Dracula-like Elder Dragon and what unique powers it will have. Considering the Dracula-theming lots of people are expecting it to either: change elements by sucking the blood of other monsters or make other monsters as its thrall once being bitten/attacked.

One of the people who comb through Capcom’s mega leak data, AsteriskAmpersand, claimed that the Osaka-based company might’ve planned to add 20 to 30 extra monsters with “Western folklore motifs” for Rise‘s expansion. Along with new Silkbinds and Switch Skills and an option to outright skip the base game contents.

Aside from never-before-seen monsters, the non-English versions of Capcom TGS 2021 page (in Italian, in this case) said that there will be a reveal of a “historic returning monster” from the franchise. Here are three of the most likely candidate for returning monsters:

  • Agnaktor, because its juvenile form Uroktor is already present in Lava Caverns.
  • Zamtrios, because its offsprings Zamite are already in Frost Islands.
  • Tetsucabra, because Guild Master Hojo is riding a small Tetsucabra inside the Guild Hall.

Fans are also speculating that another Elder Dragon from older Monster Hunter games like Lao Shan Lung and Yama Tsukami could be revealed in the stream, thanks to the use of the word “historic.” However, the Japanese comedian Gorgeous who works as one of Capcom TV presenters was photographed holding a Uragaan Great Sword for the upcoming event. I suggest you temper your expectation in case it turns out to really be Uragaan. Man, its armor looks cool but who actually likes fighting the Crimson Chin?

2. New Locations and Story Details

With an expansion, comes new locales. AstersikAmpersand also wrote that Sunbreak might be getting five new hunting areas. One is obviously the Castle Schrade-like area shown in the teaser. Nevertheless, smaller arenas like Secluded Valley or Seliana Supply Cache in Iceborne are also counted as new areas. Not to mention this time around there’s the Rampage mode, so I suspect one of them will also be exclusive for the game mode.

Regarding the new ruined castle area, it could be a part of Rondine’s hometown. Aside from the obvious cultural differences between Rondine and the rest of the NPCs in Kamura, after you finish the main storylines, she will tell you yourself about the reason why she came to the village. Rondine was supposed to bring Hamon the Blacksmith back to her country to make powerful weapons, but she ended up respecting Kamura too much.

And don’t forget. Fukashigi the Informant (the cat who hides behind the wall scroll in your House) might have leaked an interesting clue about the Sunbreak expansion as well. He revealed that Yomogi is actually not a native of Kamura. She was brought to the village by an unknown Wyverian hunter and the only people who knew are just Fugen, Hojo, Hinoa, and Minoto. She also seems to carry a regal aura around her. With that in mind, like how both The Tracker and The Handler are tied to Iceborne‘s story, Rondine and Yomogi might have something to do with Sunbreak.

3. Talks about PC Version of Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak

Since we’re nearing the release of Monster Hunter Rise‘s PC port, apparently Capcom is also planning to talk about the PC release in the TGS 2021 stream — despite the fact, PC isn’t a popular gaming platform in Japan. With that in mind, we can at least expect a more specific release window and maybe a teaser for a graphical upgrade compared to the Switch version.

If you’re worried about the release window for the expansion, relax. Over on Monster Hunter Rise official site and Capcom-Unity blog, the company has confirmed that even though the base game launch on PC is delayed to “early 2022”, Monster Hunter Sunbreak instead will launch simultaneously for PC and Switch in summer 2022. Hooray!

4. What the Fifth Capcom Collaboration Event Will Be

Lastly, Capcom will reveal the fifth and last of Capcom Collab for Monster Hunter Rise. Considering the Middle Ages European looks of the new area, I think there are a few hints of what’s to come:

  • It could be a Dragon’s Dogma Collab.
  • Ghost ‘n Goblins Collab is a no-brainer since they already did it in Monster Hunter Generations.
  • Devil May Cry Collab might also work.
  • Or even Resident Evil Collab. Especially since both Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 4 (which is getting a VR rerelease soon and maybe a remake) took place in gothic castle environments.

What are you hoping for in the Monster Hunter Sunbreak TGS 2021 stream? The whole show will run from September 30 to October 3 local time.
