Though Forza Horizon 4 has been keeping racing fans busy with its over-the-top antics (like a new battle royale mode, The Eliminator, added yesterday), it’s been a while since the more serious side of the franchise, Motorsport, took the spotlight. But Turn 10 Studios promises that it has something big coming with with its next installment, Forza Motorsport 8.

The developer recently hosted a Forza Monthly stream, and during it, creative director Chris Esaki spoke about the changes coming to the game, promising things will be “vastly different.”

“We have a new way that heat interacts with the tire pressure, and we actually have dynamic track temperatures affecting this all,” Esaki said. “We have dynamic rubbering on the track. We have a new atmospheric pressure system that accurately has pressure affecting things like air density, affecting aerodynamics and power, as well as the tire pressure. We have an entire new suspension system with new suspension modelling.” And this was just from what he could remember off the top of his head, as he was leaving out “about 15 other things” to discuss in the future.

This news comes after the team held its recent studio-wide playtest of the new experience, Esaki said. He feels that Forza Motorsport 8 will have the definitive “moment-to-moment, rubber meets the road” experience.

What Esaki didn’t say is also worth noting, as nothing was mentioned about whether or not the new game would make its debut on Project Scarlett, stay on the Xbox One, or release for both systems. However, he did say more information is coming in 2020.
