When Microsoft abolished its online checks and weird used game policies, the internet breathed a sigh of relief.  However, at least in the case of Forza 5, Microsoft will be making players download content before they can play the game.  Yes, this means you, disc-based user.

Turn 10’s Dan Greenwalt recently sat down with IGN to discuss the upcoming racer, and explains this policy for Forza 5.

“When you first boot up the game, we’re going to ask you to log in.  And when you log in you’re going to get the Drivatars and you’re also going to get a bunch of content: tracks and cars.  Our production schedule is such that we are putting them in as late as possible and that means making them free as downloadable content on Day One.”

This mandatory installation doesn’t sound like a huge problem, but what about players who have no intention of connecting to Xbox Live?  Did they just pay full price for only a portion of the Forza 5 experience?  Apparently yes, though Greenwalt doesn’t mention this instance specifically in the interview.  Though he does say that they Turn 10 is trying to get as much of the online content into the game as possible prior to launch.
