Good news for Fortnite gamers who play it on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as coming with the latest update there is a further graphics optimization that makes useless the option to choose the 30 frames per second mode.

The 30FPS mode has indeed been removed because the new GPU optimization has basically allowed to make the 60FPS mode so good in terms of graphics that the users wouldn’t have any reason to choose for it.

The developer comment claims indeed that “in Fortnite v3.4 we made some significant GPU optimizations which improved visual quality, including resolution in 60 FPS mode, and we now feel there is very little reason to play at 30 FPS.”

On top of that the game also “made significant improvements to visual quality on consoles, including resolution improvements and texture sharpness improvements.”

Among the changes, we can find “improved texture filtering sharpness on PS4 and Xbox One,” and “increased texture resolution on Xbox One,” meaning that Epic Games maybe took advantage of the experience with the mobile version of the game to make further optimization with more powerful hardware.

Fortnite is now available for mobile (iOS and Android), PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and has recently done further steps into allowing more and more options when it comes to the cross-play functionality. Gameplay between PS4 and Xbox One is still locked, unfortunately, though.
