One of the most exciting things about Chapter 2: Season 3 is getting a chance to take a shark out for a spin! Well, we’re taking a look at the steps you need to take on how to ride a shark in Fortnite’s new season. Unfortunately, this isn’t as easy hopping in a vehicle, but it’s not too difficult.
Riding a Shark Guide
To ride a shark in Fortnite, you will need to get a fishing pole, cast it out towards the shark, and then hope it grabs the lure! Once you can put this all together, you’ll be hopping on some water-skis and getting to control this many toothed fish.
Step 1: Find a Fishing Pole
You can find fishing poles around dock areas and water locations with land. Usually, you’ll see a big barrel full of them that you can interact with to get one. You will also occasionally get them out of chests, so just look around near areas where you’d expect people to go fishing.
Step 2: Locate a Loot Shark
Now you need to find yourself a shark! These aren’t always easy to find, but you’ll just need to travel around the waterways until you see the distinctive fin. You’re most likely going to find them in the greater ocean areas, which are northwest and southwest on the map. Once you have found one, you might need to nudge it closer to shore. You can kind of do this by shooting at it, just don’t hit it too much or you’ll kill it!
Step 3: Cast Your Line Towards the Shark
Once you’ve got a shark in range, now you just need to cast your line near it and hope it will bite. It swims around pretty aggressively, so you might need to cast it out a couple of times or just wait for it to attack the line. Once it does, it will hop you off your feet and onto some water-skis! You now have control over the shark and it will swim you around.
Shark Controls
If you look to the side of your screen, you’ll see the controls for the shark. You can jump the shark out of the water, and you can also boost it. These controls are going to be whatever you have things set as, so just look to the side of the screen for them. There’s also an exit button if you want to leave your shark to swim back out to sea!
