Winterfest may be ending, but a new update is already here bringing new items for which to look. One of the newest additions in Fortnite is the Shield Keg that players are wondering how to get. Wonder no longer.
How to Get the New Shield Keg in Fortnite
The new Shield Keg (also known as a Shield Sprinkler) is a throwable rare item introduced in Chapter 3 of Fortnite. As the update recently launched, you may have noticed players tossing kegs left and right. Where did they get them, you ask? Well, if you want one, you’ll have to head out to two different sections on the map and visit some NPC’s.
Both The Scientist and Lt. John Llama can sell you a Shield Keg. Go to the Llama Homestead to see Lt. John Llama. He’s found southwest of the Logjam Lumberyard. To find The Scientist, head to one of the Seven Outposts that’s southwest of Sanctuary. You can also get a Shield Keg within ground loot or in chests. However, it’s a Rare Item, so best of luck to you in finding one this way. Also, check on Supply Drops to see if they contain any.
Using a Shield Keg in Fortnite
To use a Shield Keg, you have to throw it. So, yes, you can witness kegs being tossed around. But this isn’t your regular college party. Instead, the Shield Keg sprinkles shields out within a 1-tile radius. It does so at a good pace too. As long as you’re within the drop zone, you’ll see your shields healing 4 shields/second.
If you have a squad, the Shield Keg will ping to alert them about where it’s at.
This is a tide-turning item in a battle that can keep you and your squad shielded up during the toughest of fights.

It’s best to get yourself a Shield Keg in Fortnite as soon as you can. Most especially in a squad, this is such a useful item that it very well may save your life and get you through a harsh battle.
