Not long after Fortnite launches its Chapter 4 Season 1, the game is also running the annual holiday event, Winterfest 2022. As you can expect, there are quite a lot of free goodies that you can grab during the winter festivities, one of them is the Christmas Guff Gringle skin. It is a reskin of another skin, sure, but I don’t think we can complain too much about free stuff. Anyway, if you want to get your hands on it, here’s how you can get the Christmas Guff Gringle skin for free during Fortnite Winterfest 2022.
How to Get the Free Christmas Guff Gringle Skin on PC
PC/Epic Games Store players can easily redeem the Christmas Guff Gringle skin for free through the Fortnite in-game store:
- Launch your Epic Games Store launcher app.
- Login to your account.
- Launch Fortnite.
- Open the in-game Item Shop.
- Look for the Guff Gringle Outfit.
- Press the yellow Purchase button.
- And you should redeem the item for $0 or free of charge!
The free Christmas Guff Gringle is a promotional item for Epic Games Store on PC, making it unavailable for console and mobile players — through normal means, anyway. Dedicated Fortnite players (or dedicated free-to-play users) that don’t play on PC are still able to get the item through a more roundabout way.
How to Get the Free Christmas Guff Gringle Skin on Consoles
For PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch users, there are additional steps that you need to do in order to claim the Guff Gringle skin for free:
- On a web browser, open the Epic Games Store website.
- Sign-In using your Fortnite/Epic Games account by clicking the button in the top right corner.
- Hover over your account name in the top right corner and click account.
- Click the Apps and Accounts tab on the left sidebar.
- Select either Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo Switch to connect to your Epic Games Account.
- Click Link Account.
- Enter your account credentials and click Sign-In.
You can also do it straight from your console when you launch Fortnite (although a PC or smartphone is still needed for the confirmation code):
- Launch Fortnite on your console.
- Click on Link an Account button.
- Enter the code on epicgames.com/id/activate using your smartphone or computer.
- Click on Continue.
- Sign in to your Epic Games account.
- A confirmation message will appear, and you’ll be able to play on your console.
Now you’ve successfully connected your console account to your Epic Games account, any progression you made in Fortnite should be saved between the two platforms. Keep in mind that you can only link one console account to one Epic Games account.
With the two accounts fully connected, now you just have to hop on to a PC (maybe borrow a friend’s) and then follow the PC steps while logged in with your account on the PC’s Epic Games Store launcher.
How to Get the Free Christmas Guff Gringle Skin on Android and iOS
Meanwhile, mobile Android and iOS players would want to try using the GeForce Now streaming service instead since Android and iOS options are not available through the Epic Games Store website:
- Open the NVIDIA Geforce Now website on your smartphone’s browser.
- Or download the app from the Play Store if you’re on Android.
- Log into your NVIDIA account or create one.
- Then link your (new) NVIDIA account with your Epic Games account:
- Click on the Accounts Connected tile in the My Library row
- Or open Settings > Connections > Epic Games > Connect
- On the GeForce Now page, select Fortnite from the list of games.
- In Fortnite, open the in-game Item Shop.
- Look for the Guff Gringle Outfit.
- Press the yellow Purchase button.
- And you should be able to redeem the item for $0!
