The early access updates keep on coming for Fortnite: Battle Royale right into the new year, as a new weapon and limited time mode highlight its newest patch.
Set to go live on Jan. 2 at 7am CT, the update will include the brand new Silenced Pistol. The quiet gun will be available in Epic and Legendary rarity, and can be found in treasure chests, supply drops, or floor loot.
It will be interesting to see how useful the gun is, as pistols are not necessarily the most useful weapons in the game. Revolvers are incredibly strong and can one-tap at certain ranges, but pistols are seldom used in the late game.
The update also readies the game for a brand new limited time mode, Sneaky Silencers, which will go live on Jan. 5. This mode limits loot to the Suppressed SMG and Silenced Pistol. Traps will be disabled, and the drop rate of the Bush will be greatly increased, so the mode will most likely feature people sitting in bushes with silencers.
It doesn’t seem like the Silenced Pistol will be a game-changer in the loot table, but it’s great to see further pledged support for Fortnite: Battle Royale to kick off 2018.
